Perhaps REVENUE Will Sway You?

Isn’t a pot smoker’s money good enough for ya?

The potential (tax) revenue from legalized marijuana production for both individual states and the federal government, numbers which are guesstimated in the graphic below, exceeds three-quarters of a billion dollars (I’m assuming annually).

No one knows what either state or country-wide legalization would truly “look like” yet, but there’s an entire Industry developing and blossoming before our very eyes, and there’s a bit more money to be made out there (than by simple taxation)…

Here’s the Scenario:

I wanna get mine (as does the next guy & gal).  I decide to start growing for myself as well as for a few patient-friends.

Since I don’t have a car, I decide to convert my as-luck-would-have-it nearly completely empty/gutted garage into my grow space.

First, Home DePOT gets me for tools, wooden planks & 2×4′s, some metal stuff, tubing, containers, fans, floor covering and some plant nutrients… and you know damn well on the way out the hot dog vendor is getting at least $10 from me as well.

Then I’m off to my favorite hydroponics supply store on my Big Wheel… keepin’ my carbon footprint low – WHAT! Fluorescent lights & various electronic gauges in my shopping cart, I use the same VISA that I had just used earlier in the day – the credit card company then gets a percentage (twice)-  and that should trickle down to its employees at some point… I get home and set everything up…

Holy sh** – I knew I forgot something… off to the dispensary to pick up the clones.

The dispensary makes a few bucks on each plant, which helps to pay their employees.  The employees then spend that income (some of it probably on medicine) and put it back into the economy again at Panda Express, for example… since it’s raining like a MoFo right now and I’m heavily medicated, I’m taking a taxi – the driver then gets paid from me, and then uses that money at a gas station or at an arsenal perhaps?

Then you have the people who actually cultivate vast quantities (within the limits of Colorado law) – the Big Dog commercial cultivators – generally, people with lots of money like to spend lots of money, so Chevrolet is making money off the Corvette the grower just purchased.  The contractor who builds in-ground pools and racquetball courts will be getting paid handsomely when the grower decides to renovate his pad… and on and on… the lucky contractor, the car’s engineer, the credit card company account manager, the line cook at the Chinese restaurant and the gas station attendant all are earning because of me and then spending along with me – simply, there’s billions out there to be made.

“The Ounce That Counts 2010″

Howdy Denver:

Stop by the shop when time permits and donate a bit towards our honorable cause -

We call it “The Ounce That Counts”, and this is our second go around at it.  Based on last year’s success,we had to bring it back for 2010.

We are asking for a minuscule $5.00 donation, of which 100% will be going to charity.

Which charity you ask?

Well that’s up to the winner of the drawing…

Oh yeah, and the winner also gets a free ounce of top-shelf medicine for themselves!

If we receive 200 entries, for example, then $1000 will be going to the winner’s chosen approved charity.

We will be holding the drawing during the afternoon of Thursday, July 1st.

and yes, as a patient of The Releaf Center, you may enter the drawing as many times as you would like!

Please call (303-458-5323) or email (thereleafcenter@gmail.com) if you have any questions. You can also contact us through Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, DailyBuds, and/or WeedMaps :)

*** Our current referral program has the Lower Highlands very happy and very medicated.  If you’re a current patient of ours, bring in a friend [who has not been here before] the next time you come by and reap an amazing perk: your friend buys a gram, you get a FREE GRAM – if your friend buys an eighth, you get a FREE EIGHTH (limit is 3.5 grams, and we allow one purchase daily per patient).  In other words, the amount of FREE MEDICINE that you can acquire over time is a function of how many friends you bring in! ***

What the House & Senate Bills do…

HB 1284:

1.) requires dispensaries to be licensed at the state and local level
2.) requires dispensaries to grow 70% of the medical marijuana they sell, eliminating wholesale marijuana growers
3.) bars recently convicted felons – or anyone convicted of a drug-related felony – from owning a dispensary
4.) prohibits people who haven’t lived in Colorado for 2 years from opening a dispensary
5.) allows local governments – or voters – to ban dispensaries in their communities
6.) makes a legal distinction between dispensaries and “primary caregivers”, which are small-sclae marijuana providers whose work is specifically protected in the state’s constitution
7.) prohibits people operating as primary caregivers from serving more than 5 patients in most cases and requires them to register with the state
8.) some provisions take effect immediately – dispensaries must apply for a state license by August 1 – while others go into effect July 1, 2011

SB 109:

1.) requires doctors who recommend medical marijuana to complete a full assessment of the patient’s medical history, to talk with the patient about the condition that caused them to seek marijuana and to be available for follow-up care
2.) prevents doctors from getting paid by dispensaries to write recommendations
3.) bars doctors with restrictions on their medical licenses from recommending marijuana
4.) takes effect immediately
