The Westword #WebAwards: We Won!

On Thursday, November 18th, the cream of the Denver internet crop came out to Casselman’s for Westword’s first annual #WebAwards.  Top bloggers and tweeters were nominated in a variety of categories for their outstanding web achievements.

The Releaf Center was nominated for, and won, it’s first #WebAward for “Best Marijuana Website or Blog”, with a prize purse that included a stylish winter beanie and two drink tickets!  I was also awarded “Best Dressed”, an award event organizer Nick Luchessi made up on the spot.

A sincere thank you to everyone who voted for us.  Let’s hope for a repeat in 2011!

What Happened? Colorado’s Unfortunate Election Results

UPDATE (11:38AM MST): Sensible Colorado‘s Brian Vicente is reporting wins in Alamosa and Costilla Counties, as well as the city of Frasier.  We’ll be working to verify these results.

Original Item (9:56 AM MST): As Westword noted earlier this week, several different Colorado cities and counties voted last night on new medical marijuana regulations.  The ballot measures dealt with taxing cannabis, whether to allow centers in unincorporated areas, or whether to simply ban them outright.  Here are some preliminary results, to be updated as the day continues:

Our hearts go out to fellow industry members who have worked so hard to play by state rules, only to find everything taken away from them overnight.  We’ll keep you updated as to any recounts, challenges, petitions or other recourse taken.

Westword’s Best of Denver 2010

To all of our loyal patients, we’d love it if you voted for us in Westword’s Best of Denver 2010!

We opened in August of last year and have been working hard ever since to bring Denver the very best in medical marijuana patient care. We believe that quality and selection are priority number one and that neither of those things means anything without excellent customer service in a comfortable setting.

Click on the link below to open Westword’s 2010 online poll:

http://polls.westword.com/polls/den/bestof10/

We are asking that you fill out the following categories to help us in this endeavor:

  • 8. “Best MMJ Advocate”
  • 11. “Best Local Blog”
  • 76. “Best Store in Downtown Denver”
  • 134. “Best…” (please fill in Medical Marijuana Dispensary)

You can also pick up printed ballots in upcoming editions of Westword.

We truly appreciate your support! Thanks again for your continued patronage and we look forward to assisting the Denver Metro Area with their patient needs in 2010 and beyond!

Our humble thanks,

TRC

Smoking Hot News – 02/03/10

It’s a big news day, with Rep. Massey’s bill dropping this afternoon.  Check back for updates, but here are some links to get you started with your day:

  • UPDATE (4:40PM): The full bill has been announced and is available online.  Joe Tone of Westword offers his summary of the bill and reaction from both sides.  We’re reading it right now and will have some comments of our own up shortly.
  • UPDATE (1:29PM): Brian Vincente of Sensible Colorado added his two cents in the form of a ballot initiative that is pro-dispensary.  Word on the new bill is due in a few minutes.
  • The second state bill on MMJ regulation will be released today, but Westword has a source that offers a sneak peak.  Amongst the big changes: a one year “time out”, a shift towards clinics instead of dispensaries, and new advertising rules.
  • Wells Fargo will no longer accept new applications from dispensaries.  They are the bank of choice for many shops, mainly because no one else will take their money.
  • Matt Brown of Coloradans for Medical Marijuana Regulation has penned a great piece on the medical side of medicinal marijuana.  He also adds his take on the newest regulations.  He’s a busy guy.
  • Canon City may approve a moratorium on dispensaries tonight.  They’re looking for guidance from the legislature before moving forward.
  • If you’re a military veteran and have used MMJ, a new study offers you a chance to win some gift certificates by answering questions about your experience. (via NORML Blog)
  • A California MMJ patient was detained on a plane after dropping his pants and attacking a flight crew.  He blames a medicated cookie he ingested.  Riiiight.
